Legends of Fantasy Football: Rod Smith

Our Legend series continues with Rod Smith, the ex-Broncos wide receiver. Rod spent his entire 13-year career with Denver and proved to be one of the most reliable pass catchers in the history of the NFL. During the last 11 years that he played, Rod missed only two games. He recorded eight 1000 yard seasons and scored 69 total touchdowns.

Fortunately, Rod Smith graced many a Fantasy team for me throughout the years. However, it was the 2000 season that holds special memories. That year, Rod hauled in 100 receptions for 1602 yards and 8 scores. It was a magical time for all who had the pleasure of owning him. His domination was integral in capturing Fantasy glory for one of my fake teams – The DMac Fives.

For this reason, Rod Smith will forever occupy a place in the annals of Fantasy Football. He officially retired in 2008, but his class and toughness will not soon be forgotten. At present, Rod ranks 15th all time in career catches and 16th in receiving yards.

Rod Smith — a true Legend of Fantasy Football.
